She introduced the new officers for the year:

Kristen McDonald and Diane McDonald-Program Chairs
Treasurer-Joan Clark
Recording Secretary-Selden Collins
Corresponding Secretary-Nancy Fenlon

Dues for this year will be $20.00

Joan Clark gave the Treasurer's report. Phyllis Bigelow made a motion to accept the report. Seconded by Bev Youngs. Motion carried.

Selden Collins gave the minutes from an officers meeting held 3/27/10. Ginny Lockhart made a motion to accept the minutes. Seconded by Kate Marshall. Motion carried.

Cynthia handed out a sign-up sheet for some vacancy positions that still had not been filled to keep the club organized.

Discussion was held on the monthly raffle. Jeanne Smith said she didn't think that we needed so many gifts each month. It was a good fund raiser. Discussion was held regarding raffles on the field trip days. A certificate was one idea. Bev Youngs suggested one raffle item and the winner tell the group about their gardens. Diane McDonald reminded the group that in the past if someone had a birthday they received a free raffle. Jeanne Smith made a motion to continue the raffle with fewer items (5) for ALL meetings (including field trips). Keep it simple and transportable. Seconded by Jeanne O'Callaghan. Motion passed. 14 yeas and 11 nays.

Jeanne O'Callaghan will keep the membership list up to date.

Church building rent. Jeanne O'Callaghan made a motion to pay $300.00 for the year. Motion seconded by Jeanne Smith. Motion carried.

Discussion on a scholarship will be held when Dorothy Dansdill returns.

A discussion was held on changing the meeting time to 6:30pm. Kate Marshall made a motion to keep the time the same (7:00pm) unless otherwise planned. Seconded by Phyllis Bigelow. Motion carried.

Selden Collins told the group the Spring Tea held at St. James with the help of garden club members was set for May 8th. She asked for anyone that would be willing to have an information table relating to gardening.

Linda Beaumont gave the group an update on the Red Cross Garden Tour plans. They currently have 5 gardens and may have 8 total. The date for the event is 7/10/10 from 10:00 to 4:00pm. They are working on a brochure. A light luncheon may be part of the tour. The price will be in $12.00-20.00 depending on details. Linda is looking for volunteers. Bev Youngs made a motion for the club to place an ad in the brochure. Seconded by Janet Couch. Motion carried.

Discussion was held on a previous vote in 2009 regarding the club purchasing 10 plots for the Soo Community Gardens. Suzy Verette, Parks and Recreation, would be the contact for any information.

A wildflower day was announced for 5/15 in Hulbert. Time 10:00-4:00pm at $10.00/person.

Jeanne O'Callaghan said the original template for the logo the club uses is gone now that Superior Impressions is closed. Phyllis Bigelow said she had Allstar Graphics make one for her.

A letter was read regarding Project Fresh for senior citizens. Income eligible seniors received a $20.00 coupon booklet to buy fresh vegetables at the local market. Jeanne Smith made a motion for the club to donate $100.00 to the project. Diane McDonald seconded. Motion carried.

Kristen McDonald gave the club a presentation on worm farming. Any interested member was given a box with compost materials and worms to feed and watch. Follow-up to come when we "weigh in our worms!"

Recorded by Selden Collins
