SAULT AREA GARDEN CLUB MINUTES — June 21, 2010
Cynthia Lewis called the meeting to order 6:15 pm at the Project Park Playgrounds. Joan Clark gave the Treasurer's report. Diane McDonald made a motion to accept the minutes. Phyllis Bigelow seconded. Motion carried. Selden Collins read the May minutes. There were 2 corrections. Cynthia's last name is Lewis, and secondly there will be 5 speakers at the Red Cross Garden Tour. Linda Metrish made a motion to accept the minutes with the corrections. Linda Beaumont seconded the motion. Motion carried. Dorothy Dansdill gave a history of the $300.00 scholarship program. Dorothy is willing to contact the high school and LSSU now for the 2011 year. Club members approved for Dorothy to make that contact. Red Cross Tour update: There was confusion over the duties of the different volunteer jobs. Linda Beaumont gave a detailed description for each job. There will be two greeters and the hostess at each site. Details were given on the shift times. Linda Beaumont showed a sample of the brochure. There is still a need for some silent auction items and door prizes. Cynthia Lewis asked the guests that were attending the meeting to introduce themselves. For the month of July 7/19 there will 4 garden tours. The hosts for each garden will receive a $25.00 gift certificate. Locks Garden update: Carol Askwith said there would be a work-bee 6/22, 9-11:00am in preparation for Engineers Day. Dorothy Dansdill reported that 30 arrangements were made for the United Way Brunch. The meeting closed at 6:45pm. The winner of the worm contest was Bev Arman with the most worms and the heaviest worms. The plant exchange followed. Submitted by Selden Collins
