Sault Area Garden Club Meeting of May 21, 2007

President Kate Marshall called the Sault Garden Club meeting to order after our return from visiting the gardens of Janet Couch, Chris Roll, and Phyllis Bigelow. A big thank you to these members.

Minutes of the April meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report was still unavailable.

Dorothy Dansdill said we have not heard back from LSSU student Drew about the scholarship. We have not given it out yet; Chris Roll offered to investigate.

Our May 5, St. James tea was another bit success and much enjoyed by both workers and attendees.

On June 9, those going on the excursion to Mackinac Island should meet at 8:30 AM at 3 Mile road parking area to share rides and lave by 9:00 AM. Kate will send more information later this week.

June meeting: To be a garden "diagnostic" meeting at Mary Reece's home, and a visit to Carol Swath's flower gardens. More information on this to follow from Kate.

We will work at the Soo Locks gardens on the next Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM. Tom Marshall made a handsome sign (and had a metal plaque engraved) to tell people that these gardens are maintained by our garden club.

Molly Paquin said the club will make small centerpieces that can be used on tables for the June 13 United way breakfast.

Mary Reece announced that the community gardens are starting up. The meeting is Wednesday, may 23, at the old Nativity Church building. The gardens will be organic.

Karen Cook ran tonight's raffle.

Refreshments were provided by Nancy Fenlon, Susan Harries, and Linda Carrick.

Phyllis Bigelow, secretary
