SAULT AREA GARDEN CLUB 5/17/10

The meeting was called to order at 6:15pm at Country Road Gardens by President Cynthia Smith.

Cynthia made a call for dues to anyone who had not paid yet.

Joan Clark gave the treasurer's report. Motion made by Ginny Lockhart to accept the report. Seconded by Phyllis Bigelow. Motion carried.

Selden Collins gave the secretary report. Jeanne Smith made a motion to accept. Paula Jarosz seconded. Motion carried.

Jeanne O'Callaghan will be doing the scrapbook.
Cris Roll will be taking pictures of our various events.

Cynthia announced two upcoming events:
Grand Marais garden tour. Date is 6/26 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Cost is $10.00 per person.

Marquette Beautification Conference. Date 6/26 from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Cost $45.00.

Carol Askwith asked the club members for help at the Lock City gardens for the summer. It was decided to meet every Tue. morning from 9-11:00am.

Linda Beaumont gave an update on the Red Cross garden tour plans. The date is 7/10 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Seven gardens have been selected. The Elks Lodge will host the silent auction and serve a light meal. The cost to attend will be $15.00. There will be a door prize at each garden. Also guest speakers at each garden. Jeanne Smith made a motion for the club to sponsor a $40.00 planter (to be purchased at Country Road Greenhouse with a 20% discount) for the silent auction. Diane McDonald seconded the motion. Motion carried. Linda went on to say that they needed 4 hostesses at each garden to serve a 3 hour shift. Linda handed out sign-up paper. A thank you letter was read from the Red Cross board for the $350.00 donation that the garden club had made.

A thank you letter was read from MSUE regarding Project Fresh.

Kristen McDonald mentioned we will need some gardens for the garden tour in July.

The business meeting concluded at 6:45pm. Members toured the gardens and made purchases of plants.
