September 19,
2005
The September
meeting of the Sault Garden Club was held on September 19,
2005 at the St. James Church. The meeting was called to order
by new president, Kate Marshall. There were several new members
in attendance, so introductions were made. The minutes of the
August meeting were read. A motion was made by Bonnie Skoryanc
and seconded by Sheryl Shaul to approve. Motion carried. No
official treasurer’s
was available but Connie Mattson indicated that there was
approximately $849 in the treasury.
Bonnie Skoryanc
indicated that Garden Club shirts were still available at Superior
Impressions. She encouraged members to try to place group orders
but indicated that individuals could also place orders by contacting
Susan at Superior Impressions.
Connie Mattson collected dues in absence of Ruth Clark. Garden Club
binders were provided to members once their dues were payed. Kate
indicated that the club board thought the new binders would be a
good way for members to organize and keep all the various handouts
and information provided thoughout the year.
Ruth Molino thanked club members for their expression of sympathy
at the time of her husband’s death.
Cheryl Shaul provided a list of programs for the 2005-06 year. She
gave us a brief description of each activity. Carol Askwith provided
information for the October project. She gave us some great ideas
on collecting materials for a fall arrangement. She also gave us
a materials list to bring to the October meeting.
Chris Roll sent around a sign-up sheet for refreshments for the
2005-06 metings.
Carol Askwith sent around a sign-up sheet for volunteers for the
Sault Locks gardens through October 12th. Work bees will be between
9 and 11 a.m on Wednesdays..
Jeanne Cooper reported that we are all set for raffle items for
the coming year.
Kate talked about the opportunity to ask questions at meetings by
putting them in the decorated clay pot near the sign-in sheet.
Dorothy Dansdil talked about monthly “show and tell”.
For October, members are asked to bring in an example of an arrangement
done in a pumpkin. She also talked about methods of collecting
seeds from plants.
Members then enjoyed a seed exchange. There were lots of seeds and
a good variety for everyone to make their selections. Individuals
who brought in seeds made their selections first. When they were
done those who did not bring in seeds made their selections.
Refreshments were provided by Kate Marshall, Linda Carrick, and
Chris Roll. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
